I guess I've never been in one. I find it hard to believe it is impossible to either turn the car off or shift it in neutral. However, if it is that complicated, I can see why people are having trouble under duress.

Is it suicide or death by media/government, I think both. This is the first Prius to be reported with sticky throttle, they were recalled for braking issues. I'm real interested in seeing what they come up with when the officials from Toyota and the Gov look at it. I have a feeling that this guy was hired by the US government to pretend the throttle stuck to put a another nail in the coffin, I know sounds far fetched our government doing something like that. It just seems strange that all these issues come up and are a Major news story a few months after the government takes over GM, these issues have been around for a few years and just now they come out hmmmmm. Lets bring down the import companies so people buy the government owned cars! But yeah the government would never hatch such a conspiracy never.

Not so sure just shutting off any car at 90+ mph is a good idea. That old steering wheel lock thing will make a bad situation worse. Hell, it sucks when you do it at under 50mph

Sure it works with a completely functional car, but what happens with the car when things go haywire? That is a serious question. Since most things in the car are electronically controlled, what really happens when the shit hits the fan?

And yes, I bought a prius to save money, I bought the cheapest one, at $22,000 bought it when there was no tax, and it cost me less than a similar corolla

msrp on corolla $15,450 - $20,150

sounds like he could have gotten a fully loaded top of the line corolla for the same price... or gone bottom of the line and bought 7 years worth of gas @ current gas prices...
