its not that hard of a swap... seriously... and one thing you keep over looking. the reason the 5.0 ho and the explorer get that power is they cam them to breath more in the higher rpms. a stock truck aod shifts at 4900 at the most... it would be pointless to put in an engine that makes power at that rpm it would never be used. and they dont have any torq. down low. so pulling is a joke... to make it worth while. your talking 3.73 gears a trans kit and valvebody. and sense the cam on the explorer engine isnt with in sd spec. you would have to change it to maf.Originally posted by Notch View PostSo being that we're all up on our Mustang tech, an E7 head, factory HO intake 5.0 does 225/300. So a GT40 headed and intake Explorer motor should make at least that.
So you're going through all of that extra work for a supposed 30 ft/lb, if that? Sounds like a hell of an endevour for not much extra gain.rides:

Yeah, I guess putting a higher horse truck engine into a truck was a bad idea. And thanks for the info on the cam. This spring I'll have to take my EFI cam out and put my carb cam back in. I was wondering why it wasn't making any power.
