World War 1 in Color

It was filmed in black and white and colorized later. The first color film was in the mid-30s, in of all places, Germany.Originally posted by HerrKooled View Postthat's pretty interesting, i've never seen color footage of the first, it's rare for color of the second even. i wish there was filming as far back as the civil war, seeming how there were more american killed then every other war in our history combined.
Color slides from WWII are really cool. They didn't deteriorite because all color negs were kodachrome, and Kodak was the only place to get them developed in New York, so reporters and GIs had to mail the rolls back to get em done. That's why almost all press pics from WWII are B&W, but many GI pics are color.

BTW, this is not true color film footage. It is colorized after the fact. This is easily seen when looking at other details in a frame that appear to be black/white - especially mountains or trees in the background. Turner Television did a lot of colorizing of films.Originally posted by HerrKooled View Postthat's pretty interesting, i've never seen color footage of the first, it's rare for color of the second even. i wish there was filming as far back as the civil war, seeming how there were more american killed then every other war in our history combined.
Still, this is sobering and amazing and it demonstrates the length to which people sacrificed in war.

Apparently, there is a group out there attempting a re-make of All Quiet on the Western Front using the military advisor used in Saving Private Ryan. It would be cool to see a modern war movie on something other than WWII. Maybe that will spark some WWI COD or MOH games. Might be a nice change. My couch pulls out but I don't.

Yeah, I'd like to play a game where you sit in the tank and can't see out and the guy in the tank navigates but it's so loud inside he has to punch you on the left or right side of the head to tell you to turn.Originally posted by 92MNstanger View PostApparently, there is a group out there attempting a re-make of All Quiet on the Western Front using the military advisor used in Saving Private Ryan. Or going into battle with a rifle, sword and a handgun riding a bike, sit in a hole where you can't move because there's a virtually solid wall of bullets flying over you.
I think a movie should be made on the book, "Rifles for watie".1998 Buick Lesabre Custom

Don't forget about the poisonous gas and the artillery. There could be cool Russian Bombing missions, like the Mark 19 and AC130 in COD4 or the PBY mission in COD5. Using the artillery would be neat and ambushing machine gun and artillery nests would be cool with 1914 technology. It would be entertaining to get on the Vickers gun and so on.Originally posted by LTDpower View PostYeah, I'd like to play a game where you sit in the tank and can't see out and the guy in the tank navigates but it's so loud inside he has to punch you on the left or right side of the head to tell you to turn.

a small little game detailing his secret flight into the untited kingdom to negotiate a peace treaty? that would work.
lately i've been playing a mini-game called JFK reloaded, where basically you try to kill JFK, in the exact same way as the warren commission reported he was killed, although it is near impossible to do so and has yet to be re-enacted by anyone playing the game, which offers a cash prize to whomever does so.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfpyB6AC9ak

It's one of those mysteries we will probably never know.Originally posted by HerrKooled View Posta small little game detailing his secret flight into the untited kingdom to negotiate a peace treaty? that would work.

I'll have to try that game. And look back at the Warren commission's work on the actual assassination. I always believed it was Oswald alone. I was always more interested in the motives and who was involved. I think it had a lot to do with New Orleans organized crime, personally.1998 Buick Lesabre Custom
