    AOD questions????

I have a 91 fox with the stock Ford AOD in it..I was just wondering how much power one would put up with since I just have vortech v3 sci trim laying in my garage...As of now it just has full exhaust, gears, and a few other bolt-ons...Will i forsee any problems with the 5-6 psi kit?? Thanks all!

probably in the future, but shift kits help.

I've heard mixed opinions that the AOD can handle only a little over stock level and some say all the way up to 300 hp..I've also heard that the Recal Pro valvebody recalibration kit will fix this problem. Does anyone here know for sure??

This, get a summit rebuild kit, Haynes AOD rebuild book (advance auto), a B&M shift kit. Your going to want to install a larger clutch pack and drum, hardened input shaft, mechanical diode, a 2200-2400 stall converter and a reinforced overdrive band. This is mostly the only reason my Lincolns transmission is still around, also why its going in the vert. I went through 6 transmissions in the Lincoln before getting it right. I smoked the last one by accidentally knocking into reverse at 80mph, it got stuck in 4th for another 600 miles and surprised the hell out of me

It will cost well under 1k, provided you do it yourself, and handle up to 500hp all day long without a problem.

AODs are a lot stronger than most folks think, even a stock one can handle a shitload of abuse before letting go but it will strip the clutches out eventually. Also the Lentech valve body is worth the $500 but the stock valve body will do just fine.

stock errr. I have a worked over AOD that still works after 600 whp turbo power.

I know of a friends that blew to shit with a stock 302 and blower. I'm not sure what you are looking to hear. surely somebody could tell you it's a good idea but It's NOT. Do it Right or do it twice. You'll learn like everybody else.

This, get ready to get your hands dirty. Either do it yourself or pay between 2k-3k to have it done. You will destroy a stock AOD in no time if you drive it hard with the blower. For about 10-20 hours of work and a few hundred bucks you can get at least 5 years of enjoyment out of it.

Oh, and Valvoline Max Life dex/merc ATF, stinks like shit but works great.

Im on board with lentech as well. I have their street/strip valve body in my trans along with their rebuild kit. Shift kits dont really help all that much, what lentech does is they change the way the fluid actually runs through the valve body for better shifts and trans life.

I also have a 1-piece input shaft in mine with a 3500 stall converter, so i dont feel any shift shock anymore since its non-lock up. But i would bite the bullet and get the lentech valve body and be done.
