I had no idea SRT-4s could go 160 in stock form. That's pretty impressive, Neon or not. How long it takes to get there might be a different story.

I like neons, cheap cars, lots of parts, the srt-4 opened a whole new world for the neon owner, cheap swaps as would a cobra to a gt or lx. dodge has some tricks up there sleeves and their doing it with 4 bangers

Yeah, whatever. This happened to my son's barely over stock output srt4 after he had it for less than a week. I believe it caused over $9k damage. The dealship totally repaired his car because (I believe) he had it for such a short time. This is a rare occurance. But it's happening more as people mod their car. So keep thinking your srt4s are tough.

should have tightened the helmet strap, there are "Turbo Neons" with 200 plus passes on stock internals with 50 trim turbos running 23 PSi for 170 of those 200 plus passes and 50 dyno pulls. looks like he had a clutch master spec III clutch because they've been known to shutter and grenade like a bomb. ontop of that there are even stock internal srt-4's in the 700HP range so talk all the shit you want but at the end of the day if you cant respect a car that someone's looking to build, dont call yourself a car guy.

BTW i had my fiancee's bone stock srt-4 run out of gear. that's 168mph for those that are wondering after it was moded and a bigger tire, backed that up with a 174-5 mph pass.

I find it funny when stangers make fun of SRT's and refer to them as nothing more then a Neon. First off, they are cheap American cars, beefed-up to be fast. Sound familiar? Is this exactly what a Mustang is/was? The same dam people buying these budget rockets today, were the same people buying Mustangs in 1965. When Carol Shelby was asked to beef-up a Mustang back in the late 60's, his reply was essentially,"why would anyone want to make a secretaries car fast?" Even Shelby did not get it.

Fast forward to today....SRT's are modern-day muscle cars in the strict sense....no different then the cheap-ass family cars turned into strip cars 40 - 50 years ago.

But, they lack heritag.

While I do defend the car, I have a hard time defending the annoying owners, though.

BTW, I have met more then one Cobra owner over the years who refused to call his Cobra a Mustang. There are some Cobra owners who thnk their cars are soo special that they are something better then a Mustang. No matter what you do to a Mustang, it is still a Mustang. And an SRT is still a Neon.

No matter what the SRT team(or SVT or whoever) puts into a vehicle, when retards start "tuning" or tuners push things over the limit (500hp on stock internals) things break.

So 03 Cobras have problems with their internals when over 500hp?

I have always been a fan of the srt-4, as a member on 2 srt4 forums, I was close to getting one but they discoed them in 05...and the caliber is not going in my driveway.

I'm impressed that you can look at a picture of a catastrophic transmission failure and make a decision on what happened based soley on a picture. I have seen caravan transmissions do similar things (although an auto) that were not beat on. Atleast I would assume its not when driven by a senior citizen. I have also seen similar things when certain internal parts of the transmission work their way loose and get wedged lock up the tranny and something has to give. Simple advice for the day. . . . . . Dont be a fuckin tool.

Excelent Video!!!! the comments on what srt-4 owners say is exactly what they do!! this video made me go in my pants it was so good.

A little side story is i used to live in Wausau, Wi. (aka Ricer capital of the world i swear!) and these Srt4 guys pulled into our local auto zone and this kid started tellin me that with his SRT-4(intake, exhaust, enough decals to cover the whole car, Obsessive Wing, blow off, intercooler) that he smoked my buddys 92 Turbo Fox (car runs high 10s all day on street tune) and that QUOTE "Mustangs are scared of SRT-4's" at this comment i couldn't hold my laughter any more and he asked me wtf i was laughin about so i told him no way in hell did u beat that fox. "Sure did I smoked him from a roll on the highway" at this point im like okay time to call this kids bluff. I call up my buddy w/ stang and ask him about it of coarse he has no recollection of it ever takin place and tells me he'll be there in 2 mins. So when my buddy pulls in with his fox the kids face turns about ten shades of Oh shit, mixed with pinch of fear. The out come of the story is that of coarse the Stang smoked him several times from stops, rolls, 70mph highway etc..... Sure the street racin was childish but to call someones bluff that good and to see there face is just priceless.

Simple advice for the day:

Always blame the most common cause of a failure first. Young kid beating on his *fast car* all signs point to him being the culprit.

There's how many thousands of SRT4's on the road that didn't magically blow themselves up?
