Well, I dont know where any spots to go camping are at up here in MN as I am fairly new from TX. So, im not taking an RV or renting a cabin like most Minnesotaians do. Going to pitch a tent the ole'fashion way. Where is there a spot that has water, nice area or something for camping/fishing. Thanks

Boundary Waters would be at the top of the list but if you want some thing a little closer and with a few more amenities you could go an hour south to Waterville. There are probably 50 lakes all within a few minutes of each other and even more camp grounds.
I am not sure about places around the metro though.

State parks work well.Originally posted by waterbug1999I want to just drive an hour or so in any direction. Camp gounds with a little fire/cooking pit and some water to fish/drink and have some sex all night with my lady friend.
Or, hop on 35 south and go to Faribault. Get off on HWY60 west and you will go through many small towns right on the lakes with many campgrounds. Waterville is about 15-20 miles on HWY 60 west from 35.
If you are into the pools and horses and shit Camp Dells is a good one but there are also a lot of kids there. The one right next to it is a little quieter. Otherwise there is Best Point Resort on Lake Tetonka, it is a little less busy but still nice. They have small boats to rent and have a gas pump on a dock if you have your own boat and need fuel. My grandparents have been living on that lake for a few years now, a little green but nice.
There are so many camp grounds in that area I cant even remember the names.

There is a place called Schroader park it is outside of anandale. A very nice campground and beach with a boat launch and fishing peer.
Another place is AJ acres near clearwater. This is a good place to party because the spots are a little more secluded. There is a beach and some small boats you can use for fishing.
There are about four hundred more north of St Cloud. Just check the yellow pages.
I'm sure KOA have a website they are usually professionally run and nice places to stay. They sometimes have mini golf.Last edited by worduphomefry; 05-04-2006, 08:48 PM.

Come on out to WIllmar, 95 miles west of the TC on Hwy 12. About 15 lakes in 15 minutes. On any given weekend I'm out at Games Lake, really nice but small lake with a county park, fishing isn't bad. Green Lake is alot more popular and it also has a cty park, better for boating and fishing. June is not bad to get a spot but from last weekend in June to first week in August almost everything is full from thursday till sunday.
