The stars are aligning for me to go Wednesday and I was just wondering if anyone else had plans to go up for the street drags?

They don't put much water down because they don't want water dragged up to the starting line with all the street tires. That's the point of the whole evening.Originally posted by torkflight View Posttrack prep is not shit on street drag night.....................there is no track prep, the local napa store workers run the show, you are lucky just to get water in the burnout box8.54 @ 159 mph on a 275 drag radial

Heaven forbid people drive around the water when their not going to do a burnout. I usually just go around the box, then do a quick spin to get the rocks off and call it good, course I run street tires and AWD so...Originally posted by Ford Fan View PostThey don't put much water down because they don't want water dragged up to the starting line with all the street tires. I think the issue has more to do with the non-powered tires after the burnout. There is nothing worse than following a FWD car to the starting line with a RWD car.Originally posted by Dirty Bird View PostHeaven forbid people drive around the water when their not going to do a burnout. A FWD car tends to leave a lot of water draining off the rear tires while they are staging. RWD cars do the same, the front tires track a lot of water up, but then they drive through it with their rears and clear most of it off. Plus they are not draining the water out of the tread right where the rear wheels are for the next guy.
I'm not complaining, just what I have observed at the track.Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner. Liberty is a sheep with a gun who disagrees with the decision.

That would make sense. Yeah, as far as no prep so people don't break stuff, I think that is the consensus at BIR or Rock Falls for any day other than the bracket race days. Last time I was at BIR on a Wednesday, traction started ok, but then got bad, couldn't even hook up on my stock wheelbase bike by the end of the evening.Originally posted by ford_fixer View PostI think the issue has more to do with the non-powered tires after the burnout. I think they are trying to cater to all racers, from the beginner to the professional, and the Wednesday night street night is their "beginner" night.8.54 @ 159 mph on a 275 drag radial

Ended up running a 11.52@125mph. Could do better, only got 2 full power runs in before I started having clutch issues. That run I only managed a 1.83 60'. So the 1.66 the 60' I was able to run later that night would shave off .3 on the ET alone, not to mention the sloppy shifting into 2nd. But its put up or shut up so thats what it is I guess.

Yes. But you have to read the parking signs or it will be an expensive mistake. Parking tixs are (I think) $80-$90. Weekend parking depend on where in Manhattan. That "someone" may be in an area that have weekend parking available. In the area I park on Saturday, it is meter on one side and free for the weekend on the other. However, It is free on Sunday. Good Luck
