I think it has to do the never talk about money philosophy that people have.

I can't say my price goes up when they don't ask but when I am asked to commit to a price up front it gives me alot less time to think about it.

They know our labor rates. A lot of times it is things such as move a camera or add a smoke detector. Some want a guess on time and how much the parts will be, others say just do it.

Right on. I work for some property managers who I have rates set up for. It's just service calls to homeowners that are unknown. I charge T & M on some jobs and flat rate some jobs. So if they don't ask they usually get the flat rate price.

Plus, they want to see every type of window tint I have. A quote for each type.

I once had a guy want me to break it down for every window, for every room, for every time of tint I offered.....it took like 3 hours to do that estimate and then he still didn't have me tint his house.

we always give a quote before the work is done, regardless of what the customer says. I get a lot of people who will ok the job at the price given then when the work is done try to haggle or bitch about the price.
