There is a software routine built in that will not allow the car to start unless it is in neutral. I've been using it in my Accord for a couple of years and it seems to work great.

Thats because the resistance isnt in the key, its in the key cylinder and the physical motion of turning the key to from ign to crank takes the reference signal, puts it through the resistor in the key cyl and back down the resistance wire to the BCM.

The "chip" (resistor) in the key like the old GMS is what you are thinking of, similar concept except you see it in the key, VATS.

            Dustball,

Is that your K9 dog in your avatar? I saw a St. Paul K9 unit on TV last night and the dog looked just like that..... I want to say his name was Reno or something.....

Remote starts can be used in any security application. I am just much more keen on the Ford stuff so I'd have to see how to bypass the Passlock.

Looks like "90lxhatch" will be able to help you out in this case. If you haven't purchased a unit yet, we do have a couple of real basic units in stock. You can check it out HERE and let me know if you are interested.

Or if there are a bunch of guys interested in a group purchase, we would be happy to work something out. Right now we are only a dealer for Scytek brand remote starts. They have worked well & I use them in my own cars. We can also help with accessories such as relays or modules for required integration with factory security systems.

Note: Scytek does offer remote start for manual transmission cars.

It's my dog but he's not a K9. His name is Dustball and he'd rather hide from you than walk up to you.
When we got to my place, I already had a candle burning. It was by "Glade", which I think you pronounce like the singer Sade, because it is an exotic candle that smells just like real pine.

Any of you remote car starter people have experience with stuff like this?

My X came with what seems like a really basic DEI system, donno if it's compatible or not with that... but would be cool to have control over the heated seats mirrors and rear window defroster...

GPS Tracking systmes are not hard to install, they are not all that popular for the reason subscription fees.
